What a journey this shirt had on its way to Germany! 😄
After something of a shipping odyssey, it finally made it here – and thankfully, it was absolutely worth the wait.
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever worn a hiking shirt quite like this.
The first thing you notice is just how incredibly light and breathable the fabric is. It almost feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. The airflow and overall comfort are exceptional, especially when you’re moving, hiking long distances or spending hours outside in warmer conditions.
I’ve worn technical and performance clothing from brands such as Roark, Ciele and Arc’teryx, all of which make some excellent gear. But when it comes purely to the feeling of wearing it, Jolly Gear is on another level for me. The comfort is simply out of this world.
There is one thing I’ll be keeping an eye on: because the fabric is so incredibly fine and lightweight, I do wonder about long-term durability. After the first wash, I noticed a very small area that looked a little like a snag or run. To be fair, I have no idea whether this was actually caused by the fabric itself or whether it caught on a zipper from another piece of clothing in the washing machine.
The same applies when using a backpack or waist pack. I’m curious to see how the material handles prolonged contact with chest and hip straps, buckles and zippers over many kilometres. From now on, I’ll simply treat the shirt with a little more care and wash it separately or in a laundry bag. For material this light and comfortable, that’s a compromise I’m more than willing to make.
But the story of this shirt also showed me something else: what kind of company Jolly Gear is.
When my first shipment appeared to have disappeared somewhere during its long journey to Germany, Jolly Gear didn’t make things complicated. They were incredibly friendly, helpful and straightforward and simply sent out a replacement.
No drama. No endless back and forth. Just people trying to help.
And that really says a lot.
Jolly Gear genuinely feels like a company for hikers, made by hikers. They come across as personal, approachable and wonderfully down-to-earth. You get the feeling that there are real outdoor people behind the brand who understand the hiking community, rather than some anonymous corporation simply selling outdoor clothing.
The shipping odyssey certainly wasn’t Jolly Gear’s fault. Quite the opposite: the way they dealt with it made me appreciate the company even more.
After a very, very long journey, the shirt finally reached its destination in Germany – and I’m genuinely happy that it did. 😊
Five stars for an extraordinarily light, airy and comfortable shirt – and just as importantly, for the people behind it.
Much love from Germany to the Jolly Gear team. Keep doing what you’re doing. ❤️
